Furry Fable is the leading edge community site for young computer users and is committed to providing a fun, entertaining, and safe website for people of all ages. We are dedicated to safeguarding any personal information collected on the Furry Fable website. We ensure that our privacy policy and our information practices adhere to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

This privacy policy was last updated on August 5, 2009 and applies to all information previously obtained by Furry Fable. Furry Fable reserves the right to alter or amend this privacy policy at any time and in its sole discretion. You are strongly encouraged to review our privacy policy and terms of use regularly so that you will be aware of any changes. Use of the Furry Fable site and/or provision of personal information to us shall mean that you accept our terms of use and privacy policy. Any revision to our data collection, use and disclosure practices that require notice will be done in adherence to COPPA. This privacy policy is part of the terms of use of the Furry Fable site. Any terms not defined in this privacy policy shall be defined in the terms of use.

Information collection and use policies

Our policy is to collect a minimal amount of information from our users and require the disclosure of only the amount of information necessary to participate in the activities on our site. The safety of our users is our top priority. At the time of initial registration on the Furry Fable site, we collect from users a parent's email address, the account name and account password. Users are encouraged not to use any recognizable personal information when creating their user ID. For users under age 13, we do not ask for any personal information except for their birth dates which is used solely for age verification. Users under age 13 are asked to supply us with a valid email address of a parent or legal guardian. This information is not supplied to any third parties. The only way a child's personal information in collected is at the time of registration. No cookies are used to collect personal information.

We require a valid email address of a parent at the time of registration so it may be used to activate the Furry Fable account, to notify the parent of our terms of use and privacy practices and other features of the content of our site and features of membership, among other things. We ask that parents read and agree to our terms of use and privacy policy before activation of their child's account. The email addresses we collect are primarily used for automated account activation and password retrieval and to verify parental consent of their children to use the site.

We retain the right to communicate various types of messages to the email addresses collected that may include general updates and special promotions or offers being made available to Furry Fable users, or for other purposes described in the privacy policy or terms of use. To give proper support on the site, we may require a username and/or an email address so that we may properly respond to a support request.

If a Furry Fable registrant purchases a paid membership, we may collect additional personally identifiable information from the registrant's parent. The types of information that may be collected at that time may include the parent's full name, mailing address, email address, and credit card billing information. Any financial information collected is for the sole purpose of processing payments to Furry Fable. This information is not stored by Furry Fable but is collected and retained by our payments processing vendor for the purpose of processing payments made to Furry Fable and they have agreed to only use this information on our behalf. Our payments processing vendor has agreed to maintain the confidentiality and security of any personal and/or financial information it obtains from the Furry Fable website. Furthermore, in connection with the provision of financial services, our financial institution shall be bound by all applicable privacy laws relating to such services. If personal information is not provided to us, then Furry Fable may not agree to your obtaining a Furry Fable membership and we may be unable to provide access to certain content, information and/or services on the Furry Fable website.

We enable users the ability to chat online and use an instant message function on the Furry Fable website and we have provided filters and other forms of moderation and protection so that users cannot communicate within these functions personally identifiable information. Should you use or allow your child to use the chat functions with the Furry Fable website, we are making you aware that any information disclosed therein could be read and used by other users. We are not responsible for any information you or your child choose to submit on the Furry Fable site. At various times, users may attempt to circumvent our chat filtering system, or some offensive material may get through. No website can perfectly filter personal or offensive material. However, our filtering system is constantly being updated and refined to provide improved security. In addition, our chat rooms are at times monitored by Furry Fable employees as an added layer of protection. Moreover, our users are encouraged to use a report function within the site to report users that are bothersome of who ask intrusive questions.

When visitors come to our site, we may at times passively collect certain non-personally identifiable information, including but not limited to a user's IP address, the type of web browser being user, the type of computer operating system being used, and the date and time of the user's visit(s). We collect this information for various business purposes and to make our website more interesting and useful to you so that we can improve our content and services and also for investigating cases of suspected abuse.

Furry Fable may collect non-personally identifiable information through a software technology called "cookies." Cookies are small text files that are placed in visitors' computer browsers to store their preferences. Cookies themselves do not contain any personally identifiable information. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. If you wish to change how cookies behave or to remove them from your computer, you will need to follow the directions provided by your particular internet browser.

Use and Disclosure of Information Collected

In addition to the purposes outlined above, we may collect and use email addresses and user names to allow parents the ability to review their child's account, to track and analyze user's usage of the site and to suspend or ban a user who violates our terms of use, privacy policy or engages in any other inappropriate conduct in our sole discretion. We may also use email addresses and user names to provide notifications about the site or its content, or to provide other information that we wish to offer to our users. We do not allow any third-party companies to advertise to our users on Furry Fable.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Furry Fable may disclose any information it has collected, whether it be personally identifiable information or otherwise, if required by law to do so, such as in response to a Subpoena, Court Order or request from a law enforcement agency.

We do not share any personally identifiable information of our users with any third parties, unless they are involved in merger, consolidation or purchase or transfer of assets of Furry Fable or Sentinel Media Group LLC, to the extent permitted by applicable law. We may share non-personally identifiable information such as statistical data with third parties such as sponsors, partners or the general public.

Security

The security of your personal information is very important to us. All information we collect is safeguarded through a number of different methods within our organization. When credit card numbers are entered on our site, that information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). By official launch, Furry Fable intends to be a licensee of the TRUSTe Children's Online Privacy Seal Program. After launch, if you have any complaints with how we have responded to any inquiry you have made, you may contact TRUSTe at http://www.truste.org/consumers/watchdog_complaint.php.

Parental Review of Information Collected

You may contact our Privacy Director if you wish us to provide you with the personal information we have collected from you or your child. After we have verified your identity, we will grant you access to the information whereupon you may request that this information be altered or deleted, or request that we no longer collect or maintain this information. This may require that we cancel or delete the account(s) in question. We require that you provide us with your name, address, telephone number, email address and your child's username(s) so that we can verify your identity and allow us to contact you.
